Staircase House is a beautifully restored 15th-century townhouse situated in the historic Market Place. Hidden behind the modern frontage lies a remarkable secret: a building containing several different houses. The building takes its name from the Jacobean staircase; one of only three surviving Jacobean cage-newel staircases in the country. Stockport Museum traces local history from the Iron Age, Medieval, Victorian times to present day.
